Chez Bonnie
Chez Bonnie is not a rental property. It is our home away from home. My parents bought the house in 1998 after living aboard a sailboat for 10 years. My dad died in 2000. My mom stayed in the house until she passed in 2015. For fifteen years, despite everyone's best efforts to get her to return to Wisconsin, my mom entertained family and friends from all over the world like only she could, with open arms and an open heart. There is warmth and peacefulness that transcends a physical structure, and even those that never knew Bonnie can feel it when they experience Chez Bonnie.
This is not a party house or Spring Break destination. This is a place to take off your shoes and let your soul exhale.
Chez Bonnie is a 2,000 square foot house with three bedrooms and two baths, one of which is on an en-suite in the master bedroom. The master bedroom has a queen bed, the first guest room has twin beds and the third bedroom is set up as an office with a couch that has a pullout bed for two.
The house has an in-ground, heated pool, and sits on a boating canal that leads to the Peace River, and has sailboat access to the Gulf of Mexico. Built on an oversize lot, Chez Bonnie has 120' of seawall, a 30' dock and a remote-controlled 10,000 lb boat lift that accommodates both pontoons and v-hulls (tap here to learn about renting or bringing your own boat). There is also a canoe with oars and life jackets for exploring the wildlife on the Peace River.
The house has an open concept and is bright with skylights in the kitchen, family room and master bath. The master bedroom and dining area both have french doors that open to the lanai. The guest bathroom also has a door with lanai access. The guest wing of the house, including the bathroom can be closed off with a pocket door for privacy and additional quiet from the main living area.
The full kitchen features granite counter tops and an eat-in area overlooking the lanai that seats six and is a great spot for cards or board games. There is a full compliment of pot and pans, dishes, silverware, glasses, coffee mugs and cooking utensils. All you need to bring is food, which can be found at a number of nearby stores. There is also a Kuerig coffee maker.
The dining table can easily accommodate eight, and both the living and family rooms are comfortable. I especially like to read and watch the sunset in the living room.
Chez Bonnie has fast Wi-Fi, a 4K Smart TV and Apple TV. There is a computer and printer in the third bedroom and a Bose Wave radio in the kitchen/dining area that can fill the entire house with a rich sound.
If you visit during the winter months, the pool heat will be turned up before your arrival to the temperature of you choice. There are pool toys, noodles and floaters.
Chez Bonnie also features a state-of-the-art security system with entry, fire, CO2 and moisture alerts that you can control. The neighbors are super friendly and we text many of them, so while they will not bother you and will respect your privacy, if you need anything you are not alone.
